MANAGING ONESELF
To be able to successfully manage other you’ll have to be able to manage yourself and that requires some insight into ones own personality. You need to be able to recognise what happens with yourself in different kinds of situations. If you understand how – and why –you react in different facing situations and different personality’s leadership becomes easier. Perception is one key.
Time is another key word and very much hand-in-hand with managing oneself. Leadership is time management and one has to learn to prioritise, delegate and let go of control. To understand that you don’t need to do 8 things to get 8 things done. Prioritise meetings with yourself and tell others you are busy. As a leader you don’t always get many chances of guidance or appraisal talks yourself. You need time to reflect to move forward. We can support you in structuring your thoughts.
We will support you in dealing with uncertainty. As a manager you normally work with long term strategies without any certain answers. These are times with more questions than answers. If you can learn to chisel out the real uncertainties about the future and work with them as components or aspects instead of stress factors you’ll be spared of surprises, disappointments and sleepless nights.
There are real tools that can support you with most aspects of your leadership. We will help you find the right combination.
INTERACTING WITH OTHERS
What happens when people work together and how can you influence what happens. Perception is key in many circumstances, especially when it comes to work with others.
Leading other requires some knowledge of the human nature. You don’t need to have a Master in psychology but it helps understanding that different people are motivated by different things – not necessarily the same thing as you are motivated by. People react differently to the same situation and for this reason act differently. It’s important to understand that we teach and instruct the same way we learn. Some reflects others act. What do you do? How do other do it? Who do you understand and which ones do it differently?
Whether you like it or not - as a leader you are a role model, you are always sending signals. How are you dressed at work? What do you talk about at the coffee machine? How does the others see you and what signals are you sending. Once you understand this it becomes a lot easier to coach and inspire others – to get things done!
